Originally the companion of the most famous vampire of all time, Vlad is now the proud pet of teenage outsider Mina Harker. This immortal Transylvanian Hound may be mischievous with a ghoulish sense of humor, but he is also courageous, caring, and devoted to the bone. Whether his heart is dead or alive, it’s still in the right place.

Mina is a brave, headstrong, and rather quirky 14-year-old girl with a love for all things macabre and bizarre, causing others her age to dismiss her as a weirdo. Despite her scary interests, Mina is a very intelligent, friendly, and compassionate girl who wants a friend that’s just as strange, if not stranger, than she is… like maybe an immortal vampire dog who also knows how it feels to be shunned by society for being a freak.

Mina's calico cat Bella, is literally a scaredy-cat, as she is easily frightened of any supernatural activity that happens. She and Vlad share a brother/sister type of relationship. She is the least tolerant of Vlad and his ghoulish antics, for she is usually the victim of his pranks.

Abrahamsson is Mina's high school principal and the main antagonist of the series. While he seems like just a stern principal, he is actually a descendent of the vampire hunter, Van Helsing. He is aware of Vlad's supernatural secret, and he is determined to follow in his ancestor’s footsteps and slay him.
